WET LAB Second Show and Cassette Release January 8 at The Rebel LoungeIt was leaked online earlier today that legendary super group WET LAB will reunite for one show only on January 8th, 2016 at the historic Rebel Lounge in Phoenix, Arizona. The band’s quick formation, meteoric rise to utter musical domination, and unexplainable disappearance after their one and only performance has made the group one of the most mythic sorties in all of music history.
To music fans the line up of WEIR, SCHULMAN, ROEDL, WYATT and ADKINS was so great, many can not believe it ever really happened. Others believe that there is no way that a line up like this could have ever come together by chance, that mystery titans of the music industry must have conspired behind closed doors to conceive of such a line up for the obvious monumental financial gains it would bring.
Guitarist Justin Weir is leader and musical patriarch of the group. He has founded so many iconic groups, even his Wikipedia page can not list them all. Lead guitarist Chan Schulman is a legend to any who love to shred; his guitar player forum Reddit AMA is one of the most shared threads in the history of the site. It has been rumored that Slash once took a pilgrimage to the top of Camelback Mountain to have Schulman teach him the ways of the riff. Drummer Jason Roedl was cutting his teeth playing spoons with blues harp legends on the Mississippi delta before years of touring left him in the desert playing near the dried up Salt River. It is also rumored that bassist Mitch Wyatt almost was not included in the group, if it were not for a last minute phone call, but his skills on the four string were so extraordinary he came to the first rehearsal already knowing the songs before they had even been written. And finally there was the an unknown upstart kid, raised in the mean streets of Mesa, a child prodigy honored to be among such famed and storied musicians, the little Jimmy Adkins. Many believe that one day his playing could eventually make him the most known member of the group.
Then there is the release. The band’s long lost 2 song debut will finally be released on cassette by the local label Saint Joseph. This will be the first time ever the songs “Lords Of Hell” and “Weekend For Mom” will have been heard by most fans. Following the wake of Adele’s smash album 25, the band and label have decided to follow the same economic model by not making the songs available in any digital format, including CDs or even MySpace. Counterfeit copies have already been rumored to be on Ebay for the cost equivalent to that of the GDP of a small island nation.
No one knows the reason for the surprise reunion. But one can be sure that Valley music fans for years to come will be grateful for their return.
